🌶️ About That Chili Lime Drama…
|
|
|
So apparently, there was a whole thing on social media about that big brand of chili lime powder (you know the one). And before anyone starts connecting the dots, I promise you, Matriarca had absolutely nothing to do with it. We were just over here minding our own business, making tortillas, and sprinkling our Pica Maica on popcorn.
But I get it. I really do. Moms today are more aware, more informed, and way more label savvy than ever before, and that’s something to celebrate. We’ve learned to flip the jar, read the ingredients, and ask the important questions: Where is it from? How is it made? What’s in it? Is it good for my kids? My skin? My gut? My sanity?

And honestly, I love that. Twenty years ago, when I started cooking professionally, I didn’t even think about these things. Now, I can’t post a single ingredient without someone asking for the full origin story, and that’s exactly how it should be. Awareness has made the food world more transparent. It’s pushing all of us to create cleaner, more honest, more sustainable products.
So yes, balance matters. Everything in moderation, always. I’ve even bought that other chili lime brand myself, and that’s okay too. But Pica Maica? That’s where the fun begins. Chili, lime, and real hibiscus. No conservatives, no sugar, just bright, clean flavor and the joy of knowing exactly what’s in it.

We’re working on so much more behind the scenes, from regenerative agriculture to sourcing our materia prima directly from small producers. Some of your favorite products are already back on the site (including Pica Maica), and the rest are coming in the next week or two.
Thank you, as always, for your patience and for caring enough to ask all the right questions. You’re why we do this.
With love (and a sprinkle of spice), Marcela
