Daily Matcha

I had to think about an easy go-to recipe for people that aren't coffee people, but still need their daily dose of (small amounts) caffine.

Matcha is green tea made into a fine powder giving it a rich and earthy flavor. It seems to be the trend at the moment, and I hope it is a trend that stays around a while.

Matcha has so many benefits, like gut health and helps people feel energized. But, it is so tasty. I enjoy it so much. I know some people do not like coffee, but need to wake up,. I asked those people, have you tried matcha?

The earthy and umami it has makes is a very unique drink. Pairs beautifully with many spring flavors., but I think it is a match-a made in heaven with Agave.

Preparation

Ingredients

  • 4 grams of ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 35ml of warm water
  • 150ml of your favorite milk
  • 1 tsp Matriarca Agave

Instructions

  1. Sift matcha powder to a small bowl
  2. Add the warm water. Not boiling, because that can burn the matcha.
  3. If you have one use a bamboo whisk (chasen), if not a regular small whisk will do, in a fast, vigorous "M" or "W" motion, keeping it light and not pressing hard, until a fine, frothy foam forms on top, usually 30-60 seconds.
  4. Add 150ml of your favorite milk (I use oat or soy).
  5. Stir in 1 tsp Matriarca Agave to naturally but deliciously sweeten your matcha. If you want it sweeter, you can always add more. You can also add a splash a vanilla extract and Sal de Colima to elevate it.
