The cooking classes are back.

What began years ago as a way to cook together from our own kitchens grew into an incredible community: more than 60,000 class tickets sold, countless recipes cooked and shared, and ultimately the inspiration for Chef Marcela’s cookbook Familia.

Now, a new season begins with Matriarca School of Cooking.

The heart of the experience remains the same: Chef Marcela cooking with you live, answering your questions in real time and sharing the techniques, tips, recipes and lessons gathered over more than 20 years of her culinary career.

“THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOUR CLASS WAS SO MUCH FUN, AND THE RECIPES WERE DELICIOUS! @julianne_lawrence”

How it Works

Classes are approximately two hours and taught live via Zoom by Chef Marcela, with occasional special guests.

Your ticket, recipes and class information will now all come directly through Matriarca. You’ll receive your recipes and prep instructions in advance, and your Zoom link approximately 45 minutes before class.

And you do not have to cook live with us.

Within 24 hours of the class, you’ll receive a recording that you can download and keep. Cook along that night, make everything over the weekend, pause, rewind, go back to a technique six months later—it’s yours to learn from at your own pace.

“YOU HAVE CREATED MY HAPPY GO TO ACTIVITY. @marcela_nutritionconcierge”

What we´ll cook

Matriarca School of Cooking is rooted in Mexican cooking, but it won’t stop there.

We’ll cook the traditional dishes many of us grew up eating—the recipes your mother, grandmother or great-grandmother may have made without ever writing down—along with holiday menus, baking, techniques and dishes inspired by cuisines from around the world.

These are recipes designed for real home kitchens and real home cooks, without unnecessary complication or hard-to-find ingredients.

Most importantly, you help decide what we cook. Chef Marcela is always listening to your questions, requests and suggestions on social media, and many of those conversations become the inspiration for upcoming classes.

“I LOVED THIS CLASS, EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME, BUT THE CHICHARRON AND CHILE WHERE UNBELIEVABLE. @angiensigala”

The First Class is Coming

Our first Matriarca School of Cooking class will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Tickets will be available right here at Matriarca, and we’ll announce each new class through the Matriarca newsletter, this website and Chef Marcela’s social channels.

For now, sharpen your knives, find your apron and stay close.

We’re going back to school.
